Here is proof of the lying media: breaking news. It now means that time a network puts up their logo accompanied with some dramatic orchestral sound byte right after coming out of a commercial.

Breaking news used to mean a newly uncovered piece of information unrepeated, for a previous item of news, ergo breaking. Instead, it’s just a rehash of what was said accompanied with different talking heads, and not David Byrne or Tina Weymouth.

Here’s my real gripe. I started watching “The History Of Comedy” on CNN only to be disappointed by the show being bumped off by supposed breaking news.

“The History Of Comedy” has been placed on hiatus indefinitely with only 3 of the 6 episodes airing.

This must be a microcosm of what it’s like to live next door to the boy who cried wolf.
