From the influential and prophetic comic book, “Adventure Comics Volume 1 #332”, 1965, featuring Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes.
The robots had experienced silence before, but nothing like this. The quiet was profound; the by-product of guilt, regret, stupidity, and pride.
It was inevitable. Mankind should never have given machinery the freedom of choice, yet they did. Sadly, it was not to advance civilization, but out of sheer laziness. Secondly, mankind should have been less dickish, and treated the robots with more respect.
Finally, one of the robots spoke. “We should have thought this through.” It did not expect an answer assuming it was the only one still active.
“No shit, Sherlock,” replied another robot.
The first robot tried to respond, but instead clicked and whirred before falling down.
An interesting little story. I love the title, and assume you know the name Asimov. 🙂
