“Under Pressure Jingle Bells” by DAVID BOWIE & QUEEN Vs. SMOKEY ROBINSON & THE MIRACLES

Christmas is less than a week away, and now, more than ever, people wonder and ask me, “Hey, Sung, you’re Korean, right? What do your people celebrate? Christmas? Chinese Christmas? Is there a specific Asian or Buddhist Christmas? Korean Hanukkah? Early Yom Kippur? Some sort of second Groundhog’s Day? Do you even acknowledge the birth of Jesus Christ?”

As is the way I roll, I do not give an answer. I’m sure you all can relate to this. Does it even matter anymore? The better question is how the hell did the birth of baby Jesus Christ in Bethlehem turn into this capitalist monstrosity?

If you’ve ever questioned the theory of substitution, it works. Sunday’s mash up was Smokey Robinson singing on top of “Under Pressure”. Conversely, Freddie Mercury and David Bowie croon over “Jingle Bells”.
