Sara Dallin, Siobhan Fahey and Karen Woodward are Bananarama, a competent (as opposed to power) trio that formed in 1979. In fact, they may be the rival opposites of ZZ Top and Rush in a world divided into a perfect three (which I believe is a Rush song).

ZZ Top is a power trio from Texas, the antithesis to Rush. While Rush meanders in the realm of fairies and Tom Sawyer with intricate arrangements of music (sic), ZZ Top boogies hard truth using mucky Texan swamp blues, at least they did in the 1970s.

Marvin Gaye and a Pop Music Daffynition

Best summed up, he the man, he was the man period. I recently discovered early recordings of Marvin Gaye before he became the Motown hit maker. He covers Nat “King” Cole songs and jazz standards with such grace and lilting ease, his innate sense of phrasing is impeccable. Some day people will give him his proper dues, and he will be placed on the same mantle that Beethoven, The Beatles and Oasis sit on.
